Here's a herbal tea recipe specifically designed to support eye health. This blend includes herbs rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and nutrients known to benefit eye health.

Herbal Tea for Eye Health

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon bilberry leaves (dried) or 1/2 teaspoon bilberry powder

  • 1 teaspoon goji berries (dried)

  • 1 teaspoon chrysanthemum flowers (dried)

  • 1 teaspoon eyebright (dried)

  • 1 teaspoon nettle leaves (dried)

  • 1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds (optional)

  • 3 cups water

  • Honey or lemon (optional, for taste)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Herbs:

  2. Measure out the dried herbs and goji berries. If the herbs are in larger pieces, you can lightly crush them to help release their beneficial properties.

  3. Boil the Water:

  4. Bring 3 cups of water to a gentle boil.

  5. Add the Herbs:

  6. Once the water is boiling, reduce the heat and add all the herbs: bilberry leaves or powder, goji berries, chrysanthemum flowers, eyebright, nettle leaves, and fennel seeds (if using).

  7. Steep the Tea:

  8. Turn off the heat and let the herbs steep in the hot water for 5-10 minutes. This allows the herbs to release their beneficial compounds.

  9. Strain the Tea:

  10. Strain the tea into a teapot or directly into your cup using a fine mesh strainer.

  11. Serve and Enjoy:

  12. Add honey or lemon to taste if desired. Enjoy this tea warm or at room temperature.

Notes:

  • Bilberry is known for its high levels of anthocyanins, which are powerful antioxidants that support eye health.

  • Goji Berries are rich in antioxidants, particularly zeaxanthin, which is beneficial for eye protection.

  • Chrysanthemum Flowers are traditionally used in Chinese medicine to help improve vision and soothe the eyes.

  • Eyebright is often used to support eye health and reduce inflammation.

  • Nettle Leaves contain vitamins A and C, as well as other nutrients that support overall eye health.

  • Fennel Seeds are believed to help improve eyesight and are often used in traditional remedies for eye health.

As with any herbal remedy, it's best to consult with a healthcare provider before starting, especially if you have existing health conditions or are taking medications. Enjoy this tea as part of a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle to support your eye health!
